A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §11A-3-36a, relating to authorizing the land department of the Auditor’s Office to accept credit cards as a form of payment.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

    That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §11A-3-36a, to read as follows:

ARTICLE 3. SALE OF TAX LIENS AND NONENTERED, ESCHEATED AND WASTE AND UNAPPROPRIATED LANDS.

§11A-3-36a. Credit card approved form of payment in land department of Auditor’s office.

    Notwithstanding any code provisions to the contrary, the Auditor may accept credit cards in payment of all redemption fees, all publication fees, delinquent taxes or other charges collected in connection with the operations of the land department. The person using the credit card as a form of payment is responsible for any charges assessed by the credit card company and acceptance of a credit card for payment shall be in accordance with the rules and requirements set forth by the credit card provided.



    NOTE: The purpose of the bill is to authorize the land department of the Auditor’s office to accept credit cards as a form of payment.
